Miran Kim,world renown cover artist for the official X-Files
comic
series was born in New Jersey and raised in N.Y.C until age 8
when Miran and her family relocated to South Korea until she
was 18.
Ms. Kim attended and graduated from the Academy Art College
of San Francisco, and continued her studies at the Graduate program
at N.Y.C. School of Visual Arts.
Miran, was personally selected by Topps to create the original
comic cover art for 40 of the 41 issued X-Files comics. Miran
was officially approved by the X-Files creator Chris Carter who
states "I love Miran Kim's X-Files cover art!" The
only comic cover that Miran did not create was a photographic
(non-artwork)cover.
Miran's X-Files cover art was also published in Europe on
the covers
of British and Spanish X-Files magazines.
Miran landed the job as The X-Files cover artist by first
working on
the Topps Star Wars and Mars Attacks card series.Miran produced
artwork that Topps thought was the most gruesome ever!!! This
comment Miran took as a compliment.
Miran produced a series of paintings in art college titled
"Fear of
the Unknown" which incorporated many of the of the qualities
that enabled Miran to create the mood which she is now famous
for through her world acclaimed X-Files cover art.
Miran, when asked about the creation of her art, states there
is no
computer manipulation involved.In fact,she jokingly states "I
don't even
know how to turn on a computer". Miran feels there's somthing
nicer about being physical with paper, tearing it up,painting
on top of it,using liquids and proper mediums to cool it down.Miran
says there is something a bit impersonal about computers, maybe
I just feel that way because I don't know much about them, but
right now I love the process of getting on top of the paper and
making it a physical thing.
X-Files collectors are very happy to have the opportunity
to obtain
Miran's art creations through The Miran Kim X-Files Artist Only
Collection and Gallery. |
