Liberate San Managua II:
{ the Cigar Wars }
CHARACTERS II
Finally, there are three world-reknown Cuban cigar rollers that have joined
forces to form a clandestine third team. An unholy alliance of previously
unaffiliated luminaries, this independent team has no hopes of winning the
game...cannot get any game points...and can only act as spoilers. They are:
a) "Javier", possibly born in the early 1940's, has been employed
by one of the
most prestigious cigar manufacturers in Cuba for nearly 40 years. He started
as an assistant to the maintenance crew, and slowly earned the right to
touch and then actually select and make the elite of his company's cigars.
Often requested specifically by the wealthiest customers to make their cigars
to their tastes. His family background is sketchy at best, with the best
guess that his parents were of European descent. He has no siblings (that
he knows of). He is a great fan of Jimmy Cagney. He had been very active
in all nationalistic movements in Cuba for the past 32 years. He has proudly
told the story of his making a custom batch of cigars for Nikita Kruschev
in 1963.
b) Jorge Raul deSilva de la Chiva was born in Guatemala on June 10th,
1947.
If you meet Jorge, you immediately like him. His goal in life is to have
fun, laugh and entertain his friends, of which there are many. Although
his ascent to the position of master-roller is as much attributed to his
ass-kissing and great parties, he is in fact a very skilled and gifted artisan.
His cigars have been sought after by nearly every major mega-corporation
in the far east. His political views and leanings were heavily influenced
by Mao and other oriental philosophers. He has been close to "Javier"
and Rex for some time now, although they keep their relationship a closely
guarded secret. His sexuality has been questioned at times, but Jorge dismisses
all such inquiries with a giggle and a shrug.
c) Finally, there is Rex Beauchamp, born 11-29-1941 in Papeete, Tahiti.
His mother was a hamster, and his father smelled of elderberries. He grew
up in difficult times. Economic difficulties plagued his family in the early
years, and he took odd jobs to assist, such as wipers of other peoples bottoms.
They often farted in his general direction. This period of time had strong
influences on his ambitions in life. He worked several jobs at a time, studied
at night, and managed to get accepted to a prestigious university in France
during the mid 1950's where he earned a masters degree in international
relations. He was sought after by several large multi-national firms, but
ultimately chose to begin a career in Costa Rica as an ice cream vendor.
This failed after a particularly warm summer. On a chance encounter with
Fidel Castro during one of the ruler's little known trips to the sex shops
in Miami, Rex became enthralled with the large, almost phallic cigars smoked
by the Cuban dictator. As with all other things in his life, he immersed
himself in the legend and lore of cigars; their history and the science
of their creation. After a relatively short time in the sweat shops of Cuba,
and thanks in no small part to the brief vacations with the Castro family,
Rex had twisted his way into the upper ranks of the cigar rollers of the
only foreign-owned cigar manufacturer in Cuba. Although a majority of the
corporation was French-owned, the true reins of leadership were held by
the Vatican.
By now, you have surely divined the central truth that binds the story
and the characters together! You know what to do...you know how to do it.
All you have to do now is show up, knock off some enemy pond scum, and thrill
us all with your brilliance and gamesmanship. See you there, proud warrior!
