CHAPTER VIII

Benjamin6, Patriarch
Southern Illinois Bunn Clan

The picture shown above was from a postcard at New Salem State Park, located near Springfield, Illinois, around 1953. Turn time back one hundred twenty-five years and pause. Then, this picture was a common sight wherever there were moving pioneers. The covered wagon drawn by a team of horses or a yoke of oxen was the mode of transportation used by the Bunn caravan, as they slowly moved from east central Ohio across the country to West, South East Illinois in the autumn of 1838. About six weeks was spent in moving approximately four hundred miles.
