Perhaps the herb garden of Esther (Hester). wife of Matthew ("Skipper") Bunn, and "herb" doctor was very similar. Herbs were common in the typical early pioneer's garden. Only plants useful in cooking and medicine were encourged. Blooms were of secondary importance.
