Hello everybody. It is your faithful Captain White Whiskers here. Ah...
five years ago, a bunch of people got together to form what is now known
as the USS Reliant. I want to take you all back there, to that moment in
time,and what brought it about....
Before the Reliant was formed, I was serving on board the USS Tikopai as her Chief Engineering Officer. Robert Stevenson was her Chief Medical Officer, and the rest of the crew were in various positions. After a number of months of traveling from the East Bay to San Jose, 2 or 3 times a month, we decided it was time to form our own club, and have it more centrally located, according to those people that would be forming her core crew. Our first gathering was actually in June of 1992, but our first meeting was held in Livermore in July of 1992. The Charter Members (Plank Owners) of the USS Reliant, NCC-1864 are: Chris Senft, Robert Stevenson, Heidi Fels, Jennifer Brozek, Johanna Mead, Gene Trent, Mr. and Mrs. John Halliday, Jeff Ventura, Sean and Kathryn Litton and Heather Patrum. From there, we began to grow at a rapid pace, quickly taking in three of our newest members within a month or two. They were: Shaun Reardon, Ron Correll, and Scott Sutter. After that, our growth kept up at a steady pace, going to an all time high of over 65 members!
Well, that was then, and this is now. Our roster isn't quite that large, but its quality is better than ever. We have wonderful people on board who not only care about the club, but about the people in it too. I am proud to be your Commanding Officer and I will do my best to continue to deserve that title bestowed by all of you.
Stations please.....we have a ship to run.
