Greetings from the Center Seat
Greeting to all members of the Reliant. Our main event for the month of July, the annual picnic was held at my family's swim and tennis club. A lot of people couldn't attend but all of our senior staff and their families did.
A good time was had by all who were there and the weather was great. Because we did not hold our formal elections this year our next formal meeting will be aimed at holding elections in October and I hope to have a few other peoples markers to put out for elections. My own candidacy is in question as I am experiencing a lot of competition for my time from work, family and other commitments. I have heard no word as to interest in the SETI project software. So I will drop the idea in my "list of things to be done" and move on. I suggest a Y2K year ending activity: do we want one? If so, when and where.

Whether we hold an activity or not we should all make contingency plans for the Y2K bug rearing its ugly head. For instance, at this time I know of at least 6 National Guard State commands that will be alerted and on active duty over the New Year's holiday.
We are all either native Californians or acclimated to things like earthquakes. So we should all have some kind of emergency supplies and equipment already laid in. If you have any questions about emergency preparedness I have a list of web sites, literature and a book list you might find interesting reading.
I look forward to seeing you all at the next meeting. Enjoy the summer weather.
