As I write this, I'm preparing to go up, up and away to the
Grand Slam (aka Star Trek Convention) at Pasadena. This is the
first year I've gone to such a large convention, and I'm really
looking forward to being immersed in Star Trek for the weekend.
On the local front, our monthly club meetings continue to be
fun gatherings, now held on the 2nd Saturday of the month, (April
8th), at 4:30 p.m. at the Englander in San Leandro. If we keep
getting new members each month, we will soon fill the room with
Star Trek fans! As many as can, please come dressed in costume...
this is one of the things that continue to make the meetings
April 16th will be another archery get together. April 22nd,
Saturday, at 4p.m. to 10 p.m., the Reliant will have a game night
@ Barbara's home. Bring your games, some refreshments to share,
and see you there!
News from the Promenade (DS9) in Las Vegas: Next month Gwynyth
Walsh and Barbara March plan to take over the station. Walsh
and March, who played the infamous Duras sisters, Lursa and B'Etor,
will be appearing at STAR TREK: The Experience on April 22nd.
Upcoming events are being planned
for May, June and through the summer: ideas include a trip to
Niles Canyon, for the railroad... a visit to the Cable Car Museum,
and perhaps the Aquarium.... soon it will be time to renew our
outings for miniature golf.... plus, if anyone's interested,
we may even try to get a tour of Apple Computer company... and
once Chris and Denise get settled into their new home, we hope
to hold a role-playing invasion... watch the newsletter for more
BayCon 2000 is scheduled for May 26-29th (memberships available
on line at www.BayCon.org), which is held at the Doubletree Inn,
San Jose. (Hotel reservations can be made at www.doubletreesanjose.com
by April 25th, 2000).
Thanks, again, to our tireless editor for another great issue,
and especially for the pictures from last month's convention
