“Do not let any
unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is
helpful for
others up . . .”

Ephesians 4:29

In Niger, it seems that there is always something under construction; roads, houses, school buildings, a new wall or even a sand castle. It is great to see progress and new things being built.

Our school library recently focused on the theme of
construction—as they were “building up” the library by adding 100’s of new books.

At the same time our dad began preparing for a sermon on encouragement, this started us thinking about “construction” as “building up one another”. How do we build one another up? Here are a few ways to get you thinking; say kind words, help with your hands, give, reach out to the lonely. Can you think of some others?

The next time you see one of these signs, or men working on the road, think about what you are building in your own life and the lives of others. Are you building healthy habits? Praising others? Using words that build up or tear down? Building is a process, do it well and it will last.

“Therefore, encourage one another and build each other up . . .”

1 Thessalonians 5:11
