He is Risen!

He is Risen Indeed!!

We were able to celebrate resurrection Sunday with our Christian brothers and sisters this year, as we attended a concert hosted by the churches of Niger, at the Palace of Congress, the weekend before Easter.
It was a joyous time as the resurrection was celebrated with prayers, skits, song, dancing and a short message on the hope of salvation through our risen savior, Jesus Christ.

The message was also heard by the guards who stood at each of the entrances of the meeting hall. Just as the guards at Jesus tomb, saw with their own eyes that “he was no longer there!” so too, these men and women heard and saw the joy that the empty tomb had brought.

Pray for those who heard the message for the first time, that they would seek to know more in the coming days.

Hassane (with hat) opens the program in prayer

Soldiers at the door

Pray for Hassane, our board member and church pastor, as he is now in the US as part of an international prayer conference for the persecuted church with Samaritan's Purse & Franklin Graham .

The 2,000 seat meeting hall was full!

The Fulani men sang !

“ that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth
and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.” Philippians 2: 11

Prayer & Praise

Phil was able to meet with the some of the leaders of Multiplication Network Ministries (a ministry his brother is CFO of) for a meal and time of prayer. It was a time of encouragement as they serve to strengthen the church in Niger.

Construction continues at the new CSEN orphanage site. Continue to pray as they seek to raise funds ($62,000 US) through other organizations to have a wall built around the property. Once the wall is up they will be able to move into the their new facilities.

Noah’s final week at JBU was not what he expected; a bicycle accident resulted in an ambulance trip to the ER, stitches and a possible broken nose ( he will know for sure after he sees a doctor in GA next week). Praise that he was as able to complete all of his papers, exams and pack his room, even after being injured. We are thankful that God spared him from more serious injury and that he was surrounded by friends while in the hospital. He worked hard this year and we are grateful he was able to finish strong.

Please pray for complete healing, and coverage of the medial expenses. Pray that he will be able to travel to Niger as expected on the 11th of May— we look forward to his being home this summer!

Praise that Noah had time over spring break with his grandparents, as well as a weekend with two of his Sahel classmates They were able to meet and stay with Shannon’s mentor and friend, Linda Crouch, who she taught with in Nigeria.

JBU offers a matching fund for gifts given through your church for Noah’s 2017-2018 school year. If you would like more information please let us know!

Pray as the hot season is here with temperatures reaching over 110. The city is struggling with stable electrical power, multiple power outages and the need for rain as the water level in the river is the lowest we have ever seen it. This an extremely difficult time for us to get the rest needed to function during the day.

Pray for strength and good rest.

Pray for Micah as he prepares for the SAT exam this weekend and begins to say goodbyes to friends who are graduating or leaving Niger in June. Praise that he will have Noah home this summer!!

Pray that God will provide for the unexpected medical costs following Noah’s accident, scholarship funds and additional financial supporters.

We are thankful that God has provided for all our needs in the past and confident He will continue to do so.

Praise that Noah was not injured more severely, that he was able to finish the school year and can see a doctor concerning his nose while in Georgia.

Praise that Phil’s brother Daniel was able to be in Niger for business and visit with our family this past week.
