A Season Of.........December 2011

Encouragement............

This last month has been a “season of encouragement” in our service with the ACEN
Church of Niamey. We have been reminded of God’s goodness in both big and small ways.
Please pray with us that this seasonwill grow and reap a rich harvest.

The Pastor and church were encouraged by Hassane coming to share in the worship service. He encouraged the church that tithing is an act of worship, sacrifice, and faith in God to provide for all our needs.

The children of the church were encouraged, as the men came together to build a new Sunday school classroom. The last Sunday in November there was children’s Sunday school for the first time in months.
What a great investment in the lives of our children

...

The churches in Niamey were encouraged this month as evangelist Dag-Heward Mills from Ghana, came to share the message of Jesus Christ to thousands. In the midst of opposition, the gospel was shared, and the churches came together to support over 1000 new believers and disciple them in their local church.
We were encouraged that many ACEN church members attended and brought friends as well. Our small church is following up with 4 new believers in our neighborhood for further discipling. Pray for these new young believers.

May our Lord
Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal
encouragement and good hope, encourage your hearts and strengthen
you in every good
deed and word.
2 Thessalonians 2: 16

.

As parents we are encouraged that our children are participating in serving at the ACEN church. This month Micah played his
guitar as we sang along. This too encourages the church in their worship time.

We are encouraged by the care the church is showing to the new pastor and his family. They have recently painted and finished the inside of the parsonage for their family
Phil was able to encourage the church, through Sunday morning teaching as he spoke on Romans 8:1 –there is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. Are we in Christ Jesus? If so– no one can condemn us, and we should not condemn others.
(see John 8:1-11 also)

We are encouraged that the church is praying for one another.

Shannon will encourage the women as they begin a Women’s Association within the ACEN Church denomination. She will assist the ladies of our church

We were invited to share a meal in the
Pastor’s home with Hassane’s family

We were encouraged that Noah choose to interview two of our church members for a recent school project. This is a great way to get to know the members better and practice his French.

Merry Christmas!

Sometimes in the busyness of our lives, we forget to reflect on the goodness, the graciousness the encouragement that has come our way. We are thankful that God has given us this “season of encouragement” in the work of the church here in Niger. We are most thankful that He has made us mindful of those things; big and small, that he has been working in.

As you reflect on the reason for this season, take time to remember the ways that God’s gifts have encouraged you. Then go and share with others the joy you have received. This is not a season for keeping, but for giving.

Give. Share, from the abundance God’s blessing.
Phil, Shannon, Noah & Micah

Pray with us :

  • As Phil works with the Pastor and elders that the ACEN Church would grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord
  • For 5-6 new prayer and financial partners who would give $100/mo toward the work in Niger.
God would provide $7,000 needed to remain fully funded by year’s end.
  • For the discipling of over 1,000 new believers from the evangelism festival in November.
  • For the translation of the God Story Project into the Gourma language.
  • For a van needed for the CSEN Orphanage
