Niger Arrival We're Back!

After our goodbyes to family and a drive to the Atlanta airport, on January 2, we began the long trip back to Niger. All connections were made, the trip was safe, baggage arrived with us and our ride from the airport was waiting to take us “home”. We were greeted by our friend Chaibou and our dog Coco as we entered the gate! We were back!
After being gone for 6 months there was some clean up to be done. We started with the fridge, cleaning out the dust, and getting some ice and cold water started for the morning. In time we will get to all the layers of dust; for now it is laundry, AC, generator & household repairs, lawn and yard maintenance and many greetings

men/merchants; that his life will be a light to them, that will draw them to ask more about Jesus.

Micah is happy to be back “home”, connecting with friends and speaking French! There are many new students and teachers at Sahel this year,; he is making new friends as he continues to transition back into the classroom. He is part of the high school worship team and happy to be playing ball again with his friends. Pray for Micah as he adjusts to being the “only child” at home, leads worship during the spiritual emphasis retreat and finishes up his Junior year of high school.

Shannon is thankful for the time she had to get the kitchen set up and bags unpacked before she began teaching her Fabric Arts class at Sahel; she has 8 students who are eager to learn. This week she returned to the orphanage with her team of high school students. It is good to see the student leaders growing and taking ownership of this outreach project. Pray for Shannon as she works with students, encouraging skills and service.

Noah said goodbye to us early on the morning that we left for Niger, as he and his friend Ethan (former Sahel classmate) took a dream road trip to DC. They met up with another classmate and toured the highlights of the DC mall area. Their return trip included some car adventure, but they made it safely back.
Noah has returned to John Brown University for his second semester. He is happy to have a new roommate and work study at the local Christian radio station. Pray for Noah that he would be growing in his faith, trusting God when he is far from family, and using his time wisely as he continues his studies in history.
