BBAC DINNERS HELP KEEP US GOING

By H. Carter Fickes, BBAC Development Director

Just like other Non-Profit Organizations such as Ducks Unlimited, The Elk Foundation, National Wild Turkey Federation, etc., the BBAC has been successful with it's Fund Raising Dinners as well.

Currently your BBAC has three Annual Dinners, the Delta/Foothills Chapter Dinner in Modesto, the Bay Area Chapter Dinner in San Jose, and the NorthChapter Dinner in Oroville. These Dinners this year generated over $15,000 in net profit.

Our Dinners serve not only to generate revenue they create the reality of BBAC Clubs, Members, and other outdoor people coming together to share stories, renew friendships, and say hello to fellow anglers we may have not seen for a while. The raffled and auctioned items are favorite and traditional gifts given away at Dinner events. Known Artists and Athletes put-up signed and numbered gifts, guides donate trips, and such items as baits, rods, engine oil, articles of clothing and many other items are donated to raise money for your organizations.

At these Dinners we give special ticket packets to Clubs and/or supporters who buy a table of ten. The following Clubs have attended the Dinners; Shasta Cascade, Manteca, Livermore, Yuba City, Contra Costa, Castro Valley, Gilroy, Nor-Cal, Bay Area, and San Joaquin. These are however, four Clubs that have supported us by purchasing two tables of ten; The Chico Conservation Club, The Modesto Am-Bass-Adors, The Bass Classics of Santa Clara Valley, and The Bass Busters of Santa Clara County. Other BBAC supporting Table Groups, Anglers Choice, Walton's Pond, Jy Liu Service, Oroville Outdoors, Boats Unlimited, Bob's Marine, Reeds and others - please accept my apologies if I left you off this much appreciated list of BBAC supporters. All the above supporters we owe thanks to, they have been there for us more than once.

For those who have attended these Dinners you know what a fun time they are. For those who have not enjoyed a BBAC Dinner may I suggest giving it a try. You will benefit in several ways, you will have a great time, be with friends, enjoy a great Dinner, and be acting responsibly in supporting the sport of Black Bass Fishing and Tournament Angling for "Generations to Come".

Look for the Dinners in the areas and dates as follows: March-Modesto, June-San Jose, November-Oroville. Please give the BBAC Office (831) 461-1732 a call for any suggestions, concerns, and/or donations of time or gifts you may have regarding the Dinners. As with any Non-Profit Group it's the volunteers that are the heart that keeps it going. Giving back must be part of taking.
